Let me preface this by saying that I actually like the lead track “Lights,” from Interpol’s fourth, self-titled album. I like that it’s slow and brooding, with the build up that you’ve come to expect these gloomy lads, but the video? We get it. It’s dark … it’s methodical … it’s spewing splooge out of your mouth?
I’m taking this imagery with a grain of sand as I have high hopes for this album, because I, unlike the rest of the world, enjoyed Our Love to Admire (with a Wrecking Ball attached!). So a) suck on that, and b)… on the lookout for Interpol, out mid-September.

Some of ATL’s finest profess their love for voluptuous assets on the spaced-out track “Tangerine,” off Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty, out July 6.
Former “I got five on it” favorite L.e. brings us the video for “Bulldog BMX,” almost a year after the release of The Anti-Parachute Theory.

Man, fuck a summer jam, THIS SHIT RIGHT HERE just became my theme song. My boyfriend told me I wasn’t allowed to drink Sparks anymore (R.I.P.) due to the fact that it just might kill me, but he didn’t say a damn thing about Four Loko. Blue Raspberry for the motherfucking win. I’d like to front like this song isn’t the business, but I just can’t help but love it – it speaks the truth! Plus you can tell these dudes were waaaaaaasted when they made the video. Meaning, I’m jealous I wasn’t there.

Summer is officially here, so for the next 13 weeks I want to pay tribute to the fun in the sun by bringing back some of those Bay Classics we love to ride to. For those of you not from the Westcoast, I’m not really sorry. All I can say is that you’re missing out. There isn’t anything better than cruisin’ on a summer afternoon with the top down (or at least the windows) and listening to that smooth, feel-good shit. Ask about me – you’ll quickly find out second to family/friends, it’s what I live for. Game recognize game, and you looking kinda familiar.
Fashawn takes a moment with Distorition 2 Static to speak on his latest and upcoming projects, including Ode to Illmatic. I’ve been playing that shit on repeat, ill ass project, if I may say so myself. We all know Nas needs to pay off Kelis those ridiculous lump sums every month so a Nas & Fashawn project??? That would be on point. Another thought, how bout some Elzhi over Lee Bannon’s beats? Just sayin’, both of them would get eaten up like a hipster in the hood.
For those of you who still havn’t, you know what to do below. Big ups to XXL magazine, DJ Green Lantern & Orisue for the dope collab with Fashawn; and of course Nas for serving the inspiration.

The visual to complement the dope track put out by the beast from the East, J. Cole. One take with no cuts. Fire.

I won’t call em remakes, the way I see it they offer alternative interpretations. They pay tribute to past artists/works and keep us diggin’ through crates music folders just so we can reconnect. At times this connection is the only way we’d give new artists a listen. They tap into our memory to catch our attention. I’m a firm believer in our past experiences keeping us rooted to where we need to go. So with that, holler its Friday!
Fashawn – “Halftime” [Ode to Illmatic]
Damn! Just In Time Tour indeed!
