Prometheus Brown – Michelle Malkin

In response to recent events, America’s favorite Asian woman, has posted up a diatribe entitled The progressive “climate of hate”. {{1}} [[1]]You know what’s there. Ain’t worth the link.[[1]] I like the part where she calls out the left on playing politics “in the middle of a national tragedy”, then goes ahead and steps up to the plate anyway. Sigh.

She has a point though—haters are everywhere—but it’s kinda like the pot callin’ the kettle black, ya know? {{2}} [[2]]Well, in this case the kettle is made out of steel and is more of a greyish tint. But I digress.[[2]] Anyway, I don’t wanna go much further into the world of politricks. I only brought it up cuz it reminded me of a dope song:

Prometheus Brown—Michelle Malkin

Prometheus Brown from the Blue Scholars samples up some of that good ol’ Sade to express some thoughts a lotta brown folk have probably thought about this pinay:

And now They treat her like a darling /
It’s gotta be disheartening /
Knowing that you’ll never be a malibu barbie
Fried fish stinkin’ up your crib; You cried probly /
But Oddly /
Now you’re reppin’ for the party

What do you think? Is Ms. Malkin an Uncle Tom, as Geo suggests? I dunno, and personally, I wouldn’t go as far to call her one. Gotta remember Hanlon’s Razor and all.

Murs – “Varsity Blues 2″

Fuck. Yes. Without a doubt Varsity Blues, Murs’ six-track EP is my favorite album from everyone’s favorite rapper. Though not his most popular (but probably definitely his most emo) project, Murs is following up the 2002 gem with Varsity Blues 2, releasing the title track produced by Aesop Rock himself on 900 Bats.

Lee Bannon x Chuuwee – “This One For You”

Lee Bannon collabs with Chuuwee to bring us this delicious treat that lives up to its title. From the second I pressed play to skim, I was eager and curious to hear more. This morning’s commute supplied me with the time to give it a thorough listen and for Free99 this project is fire. Lee Bannon continues to deliver an interesting style that stands out from the majority of washed out sounds you hear today.

Low n’ Slow

I can remember hitting up my public library as a youngster scanning through the monthly Lowrider magazine and being amazed with the culture, style, and beauty of Lowriders. It was this fascination that drove my interest in the arts, both audio and visual, as well as in automobiles. Came to find out later on that the Lowrider culture started out of the south Bay, in San Jose. All stemmed out of the Story & King intersection! My how far you’ve come.

“SA Studios was commissioned by Twentieth Century Fox to produce videos promoting the film “Machete” starring Danny Trejo. The first lifestyle video features Mister Cartoon and Danny Trejo lowriding through East LA. This video, directed by Estevan Oriol, begins the series. “

Big ups to SA Studios.
