As a long time-admirer, and direct descendant of (by way of  maternal grandparents) the Dirty South I had to give Yelawolf some play. I mean, a white rapper that looks like he could be a stand-in for Travis Barker that has a penchant for lean and Box Chevy’s? Where the hell do I sign up?

And Yelawolf does not disappoint. He’s fucking legit, making me even more petrified of white folks in the South via “Pop the Trunk,” the no bullshit anthem of what really goes down in ‘Bama, while slightly enamored after his pick-up lines in “Speak Her Sex” – “no I don’t know shit about you, but you got a pretty face and the booty’s round.” The man can hold his own, and with collaborations with Juelz Santana and Raekwon under his belt, I think he’s gonna go far in 2010, although with that hair cut sometimes dude reminds me of Gary Oldman’s character in The Fifth Element. But don’t tell him I said that. He doesn’t seem like the kind of guy that can take a joke.
