I Got Five On It

It finally felt like summer this week.

Although I haven’t had the funds and opportunity to sail the seven seas, I have been fortunate to live and be exposed to a spectrum of neighborhoods throughout California. I’ve always been curious of areas out of my city limits, lets be real, Cali has alot to offer. The one thing I love, regardless of where I find myself, is that there always seems to be an underground culture. I guess the Status Quo simply doesn’t suffice alot of us.

It makes sense now,  because I’ve always been uneasy with labels and checking boxes. If anything, this exactly has driven me to break stereotypes and maximize my threshold of knowledge & culture. I guess being born in the US and having parents who immigrated from Mexico, as common as the first generation struggle may sound,  I’ve never fully accepted myself as originating from one culture. A goal for this year is to explore more areas outside of the state, unfortunately the furthest east I’ve been is Arizona. With friends embarking on new journeys outside of Killa Kali, its time I get better acquainted with the unknown.

I hope by now you’ve caught on to our purpose and style here at PTGC. We’re not here for blog ego trippin’, nor do we take credit for the talent. We simply appreciate it and seek to spread it. Unfortunately, most of this music doesn’t make it into the hands of the masses. Stick with us and we’ll keep pushin’. I Got Five On It playlists are our gift to you, for supporting us. It keeps us on our game, and provides a delectable 15 to 20 minutes of carefree insight into the minds of like-minded folk.

The Day The Turf Stood still

DaVinci droppin’ his free album today, The Day The Turf Stood Still. For those of you who still havn’t heard of the guy, I suggest giving the San Francsico native a listen; you might fuck around and end up feelin’ it. The man’s raw talent paints an unpretty picture of the real effects of Urban Renewal and how these communities are struggling to preserve their culture while reminding us we must stay optimistic about the future.  Tracklist and download link below.
